Jayden turned 6!

Jayden's 6th birthday was Wednesday, September 6.  We decided to celebrate a few days early with a few family members.  After having a pizza lunch at Bottom's Up, we all went to the Renaissance Festival.  It was a great time!  Thanks to everyone who thought of Jayden for his birthday, it was a great one this year!

Jayden's super hero cake

The Renaissance Festival even had a petting zoo (thanks Aunt Katie)!

Hmmm....this fence is intriguing!

Might as well squeeze in some time to throw a few axes.  Matt actually got 2/3....not sure if that's a good talent or a bit scary :)

We used some of Jayden's left-over cake on the actual day of his birthday (with candles this time....my pregnant brain lost the first set over the weekend haha).

It's Official...

We had our ultrasound today and it was amazing!  It was such a wonderful experience to get to see our little one.  Our ultrasound tech took her time measuring each and every bone, organ, body part, etc.  Everything looks great :)  (The pictures below were taken with our camera of our ultrasound photos....not the best, sorry!)

A cute view of a foot

The side view...head at top right, spine at the base of the head going down towards the left, arm on lower right, leg tucked under bottom left

The front face view (forehead on far right, then eyes, nose, and mouth).  This is one stubborn little one, the entire ultrasound the face absolutely would not turn for a profile picture, oh well :)

Well, this one makes it official.....those are two legs; one on the left side and one on the right side, with a penis in the middle.  It's a boy!!!!!!  We couldn't be more excited!  For all of our curious family and friends out there, he does not have a name yet :)

The Warrior Dash 2012

Matt decided a while back that he wanted to compete in the Warrior Dash.  It is a 5K race that also includes some crazy obstacles.  In between stretches of running, the competitors had to traverse obstacles such as climbing over walls, swimming through water over barrels, going over a cargo net, jumping over fire, and swimming through mud under barbed wire.  Matt inspired some of his hockey friends to join the race with him.  They actually started calling themselves "Walker's Warriors." They surprised him with team shirts and it was an amazing day.  Matt did a wonderful job at the race, and I couldn't be more proud of him.  It was a great accomplishment and a lot of fun :)

Yep, Matt is wearing a cape :)  He made it out of a t-shirt, then had his warriors sign it.  He opted right before the race to loose the shorts and just wear his compression shorts, which was probably an excellent idea.  Many people were loosing their clothes due to the weight of the mud, water, sweat, etc.

Woohoo!  He finished with plenty of smiles to go around!
Great job!  I'm so proud of you ....not too close though, you're really dirty ;)

OUCH!!!! Rock Wall - 1, Jayden - 0

This weekend started off with a real bang!  Matt and I were leaving school Friday afternoon when we got a call from Jayden's school (this has yet to happen for good news, haha).  The secretary told us that Jayden had fallen off of the rock wall during recess and broke his arm.  This happened with less than a half hour of school left.  After a couple of hours at Zeeland Community Hospital's ER, it was confirmed that Jayden indeed broke both his radius and ulna of his right arm....his "good arm," according to him.  The good part is he was lucky in a sense because neither of the bones were very displaced, which meant he did not need to have them re-set.  He was placed in a splint, with a sling for the weekend. I honestly did not know that a 5 year old could be that brave!  We are extremely proud of him!!

After a weekend of sling and splint wearing, Jayden got his cast today. He was actually excited to get a cast, and even more excited to find out that he would get to pick out its color.  He chose a black cast, and informed us that no one will be writing on it.  He also said he would like to continue wearing it until he is "big like Matty."  Something tells us he might change his mind about that one :)  Unfortunately, his soccer season that starts this Saturday is already over, but there's always the spring session.  We are hoping that the 2nd week of Kindergarten is a little less eventful!

20 weeks and counting!

Brandy is 20 weeks pregnant today, 20 to go (give or take)!  We have not updated any belly pictures yet, because there was not really much of a belly until recently.  Our ultrasound is scheduled for September 18....we'll keep you all posted. Everything is going great so far, and we feel very blessed and grateful!

Jayden's First Bus Ride

Jayden had another big first today....he rode the bus home!  He has been looking forward to this since last year.  We were shocked how many students got off of the bus with him from our neighborhood.  We are also fortunate that the bus stop happens to be our driveway :)

Jayden's First Day of Kindergarten

Jayden went off to his first day of Kindergarten today.  He was fortunate enough to get the same teacher for Kindergarten that he had for Pre-Kindergarten (Mrs. Beckett), as well as 15 of the same classmates.  He had a great day today!

Jayden also insisted that we have our first day of school pictures taken as well :)
